- Story Text: Heavy flooding and mudslides hit China's southwest Sichuan Province on Wednesday (July 13), temporarily cutting electricity and transportation in the region.
The torrential rains and flash floods began in the province's Yajiang county on Tuesday (July 12) afternoon, causing damage to some houses, state media reported.
Local fire and rescue authorities were dispatched to find and rescue trapped people, state television CCTV said.
There have been no causalities reported.
Heavy downpours have wreaked havoc in the province since the end of June, causing eight deaths and forcing nearly 170,000 people to relocate, according to the provincial flood control office.
Natural disasters left 449 people dead and 100 missing in the country in the first six months this year, according to a government report. - Copyright Holder: CCTV (China) - NO RESALE MAINLAND CHINA
