  • Story Text: A motorcyclist narrowly escaped death as a large truck overturned at a road junction in China's eastern Zhejiang province on Tuesday (January 22), state media reported.
    According to security camera footage shown by Chinese state television CCTV, the accident occurred at around 2:21 PM local time (06:21 GMT) when the truck's driver reportedly lost control while making a sharp turn at an intersection on a national highway.

    "When I was driving the truck downhill, it was at a speed of about 10 kilometres per hour. As the road winds here, the back compartment of the truck tilted towards the right side of the tyres and then flipped over, which was followed by the front of the truck," said the truck's driver described Mr. Zhu during an interview with CCTV.
    CCTV reported that no-one was killed or injured in the accident but local authorities closed off the intersection where it happened.
    In 2010, Chinese police officially recorded 219,521 traffic accidents that led to deaths or injuries, including 65,225 fatalities. That was a fall of 3.7 percent on the previous year.
