- Story Text:Trump, Putin and Xi sitting side by side in a palace in Yalta, Crimea, where Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill met 80 years ago in February 1945. Russian artist Andrei Krupin has reimagined the historic conference between Allied powers that determined the future of Europe at the end of World War Two.
The three large portraits of Trump, Putin and Xi sitting in poses that resemble those of the U.S., Soviet and British leaders in archive photographs, were installed on the territory of the Livadia Palace in southern Crimea - the venue for 1945 Yalta Conference of "The big Three". The portraits are part of the exhibition "Yalta 2.0", which marks the 80th anniversary of the talks held over seven days. Speaking to Reuters, Krupin said the art installation also suggests that possible talks between U.S., Russian and Chinese leaders may "decide the future of the world".
"If it happens, it will look exactly like this - Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin), Xi (Jinping) and Donald Trump will meet to discuss the future of humanity," he said.
Trump said he has spoken to Putin by phone about ending the conflict in Ukraine, the New York Post reported, the first known direct conversation between Putin and a U.S president since early 2022.
The Kremlin has said it could neither confirm nor deny whether President Valdimir Putin had spoken to U.S. President Trump by phone.
Trump, while campaigning for the U.S. presidency, promised to end the Ukraine war in just a day. Officials from the new Trump administration reportedly have had contacts with Ukraine and Russia on ending the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War Two.
After almost three years of conflict, Moscow controls about 20% of Ukraine, including Crimea, which it annexed in 2014, and parts of four Ukrainian regions in the east and south of the country. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
