(SOUNDBITE) (English) SWEDISH ACTIVIST KARL KJELLIN SAYING: “We are here today in order to protest against the genocide going on in Gaza and the West Bank and in order to protest the support that our own imperialist government is giving to the Zionist occupation. During the last couple of weeks the imperialists have shown their true face. Trump has openly said that he is in favor of ethnically cleansing the Palestinians from Gaza. The fact that Trump and his government has now openly said they want to turn the entire Gaza Strip into a holiday resort by ethnically cleansing the entirety of the Palestinian population there shows the complete lack of humanity in these imperialist politicians. And I think that it's important that the people of the world show that we do not accept this brutal and inhumane proposal and that we will fight against it.” SCRIPT: A protest was held in Stockholm on Saturday, March 8, against U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to "take over" Gaza and forcibly displace Palestinians living there. Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in the Odenplan district of the Swedish capital, expressing their opposition to the plan to remove Palestinians from their land. The protest was organized in solidarity with the people of Gaza. The protesters carried placards reading "No to American imperialism, no to Zionist occupation," while chanting "No to deportation" as they marched towards the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Swedish activist Karl Kjellin, who participated in the protest, spoke to Anadolu Agency (AA) and condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza and the West Bank. He criticized Sweden’s support for Israel, emphasizing the brutality of Trump’s plan. Kjellin expressed that Trump’s proposal to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Gaza and turn the area into a resort reflects the inhumane nature of imperialist policies. He stressed the importance of global resistance to this brutal plan, urging people to stand against such actions. On February 4, during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, Trump said that the U.S. would "take over" the Gaza Strip and "own it." He suggested that Palestinians would have no choice but to leave Gaza, referring to new settlements to be built in neighboring countries, including Egypt and Jordan.
