VARIOUS MEMBERS OF PROTESTERS FROM INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES SCRIPT Members of indigenous communities from the Cauca department in southern Colombia have gathered in Bogota's Plaza de Bolivar to meet with President Gustavo Petro Urrego. In this meeting, they want to address peace-related issues in their territories and raise concerns about unfulfilled promises made during Petro's political campaign. Cauca is currently facing a volatile security situation, as numerous armed groups operating outside the law have unleashed a wave of violence against both public security forces and the civilian population. Due to the lack of progress in negotiations between indigenous communities and the government, a group of protesters decided to block a major road in the center of Bogota. In response, police from the Unit for the Maintenance of Dialogue and Order (UNDMO) used stun grenades and armored vehicles equipped with water cannons to break up the blockade..
