It's an organization that actually started because of the children being arrested in the West Bank. It started a few years ago and the actions at that point were against the children being detained in the West Bank. Well, again, we're talking about inhuman behavior and what's happening now is that people are starving in Gaza. Israel is not allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza, and many children are starving, and many children are standing in line with empty pots, hoping for some food to be able to bring back to their families. Of course, not only children. Starvation is not a way to win a war. It's not a way to attain anything. Well, I think this is exactly the example of the way the lessons from the Holocaust can be understood in two ways. One is that the Jewish people have to always be stronger so that such a crime will never be done against them again. But the more wide view of what the Holocaust should teach us is that no one should be starved. No family, no child should be starved in this world and definitely not purposefully. And that's the reason we're standing here. For us, it's terrible that the important lesson of the Holocaust, the humanitarian lesson, isn't the one that is learned, especially by Jews who've gone through this." 3. VARIOUS OF ISRAELIS STAGING SILENT PROTEST, HOLDING EMPTY POTS AND BANNERS SCRIPT A group of Israelis held a silent protest in Tel Aviv on Thursday, April 24, denouncing the government’s starvation policy amid ongoing military operations in the blockaded Gaza Strip. Dressed in black and holding empty pots, the demonstrators stood solemnly behind a banner reading “Starvation is a war crime.” They called for an immediate end to the attacks and urged authorities to prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Since March 2, Israel has sealed all crossings into Gaza, cutting off the flow of essential supplies, including food, medicine and clean water, to the enclave's over two million residents. Among the protesters was Mihal Fortman of Parents Against Child Arrest, an organization formed several years ago in response to the arrest and detention of Palestinian children in the West Bank. Speaking about Gaza, she said: “People are starving in Gaza. Israel is not allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza, and many children are starving, and many children are standing in line with empty pots, hoping for some food to be able to bring back to their families. Of course, not only children. Starvation is not a way to win a war. It's not a way to attain anything." She also drew a powerful moral parallel to the lessons of the Holocaust: “The Holocaust should teach us that no one—no child, no family—should ever be starved in this world and definitely not purposefully. That’s why we are standing here." Israel resumed its offensive on the Gaza Strip on March 18, abandoning a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January. It has killed nearly 51,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in the enclave since October 2023. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
