01:01:41:01 - b&w 1944 2nd Ranger Awards ceremony ETO: Silver stars are being awarded to Rangers in an open field in the uk-note overcast and fog. A ranger medic is also awarded. NI XCU on 2nd rangers helmet markings and shoulder patches. XCIU on General Simpsons staff car w/ sign plate PRIORITY and 4 stars upon it-denoting get out of my way. He has just come from a meeting. Mark W. Clark awards the RANGERS-this is a retake-dispatches are read and medals pinned upon the shirts of those standing before the general. Clark stands before the men and speaks to them-as they sit in a semi circle and listen.
01:07:49:21 - b&W ETO October 11th 1944 Simpson and Marshall: come from a meeting-CUs as the leave and get int their respective staff cars. MPs stand guard otuside-GOOD shots of MPs armed with M1 carbines at port arms. Footage repeats awards ceremony for 2nd rangers w/ three star Mark Clark.
01:10:01:21 - B&W PTO 6th Rangers October 8th 1944 Beachead & Inspection: DUWKs w/ black stevadore drivers go out to ships at sea to load supplies for the Rangers next mission. Choppy waves hitting the shore and DUWK. DUWKs pull along side a supply ship to unload. Cargo nets hang from the sides of the ship for the Rangers to climb up. Rangers (one in onepiece jungle camo suit) load ammo crates into DUWK. XCU of two rangers w/ marine camo helmet covers, nice panning shot of rangers in three types of hbt caps: Mechanic, AAC ball cap, and Daisey Maes. Rangers wear two patterns of hbts: 1941 and 1943-some are sun bleached where as others are newly issued. Al have the 1910 pack. This is morning line up prior to a patrol or mission-fantastic!!!!! Stencilled rank on shoulders-all three patterns of hbts, mechanics caps and daisey maes. Behind them you see their tented camp and containment area.
01:19:33:22 - B&W 1944 PTO 6th Rangers prepare for combat/inspection: Rangers lined up in full gear w/ camo (marine) helmet covers (note DO NOT use this footage for marines!). The US flag is lowered-rangers salute and prepare to go on a long hump. Each man carrys two bandoleers, grenades hanging from their belts and two canteens. Most have newly issued 1943 hbt suits. Nice CU of rangers folding the US flag. Note camo elastic bands over helmet covers. JG army band plays as the Rangers shove off. Note Jungle first aid kits and dismounted leggins, a few carry the M2 ammunition vests for the mortars/machine guns. Black stevedores in DUWK watch as the rangers march by. The rangers sit on the beach-are issued wtih mae wests as they are about to be taken to a troop ship by a fleet of DUWKs. XCU on buddy helping to tighten his buddies mae west. FANTASTIC footage!
01:25:10:19 - B&W 1944 PTO 6th Rangers: Rangers at Port arms. Nesie saluting (far right). Rangers marching to the beach to board troop ships via DUWKs-nice array of camo helmet covers and camo and non camo jungle packs, -each man is loaded with extra mortar bombs, bandoleers-the works-GREAT footage!!!
01:29:20:14 - B&W liberated US and British POWs, Cabanatuan POW Camp January 29th 1945: Captain Robert Prince 6th Rangers sits in animal cart w/ two liberated pows too week to walk. Liberated pows smile and rejoice-intermingled with their liberators 6th rangers and Philippio scouts. Doctors tend to those in need. Philippinos mingle among the liberators and liberated. Pows catch their breath after their escape. Senior liberated officers rest in rattan chairs. Pows wear a wild assortment of clothing-rags and repaired items. Rangers carry sick on litters to load them into the water buffalo carts. POWs are given ciggaretes and Red Cross parcells for which they are very pleased to get. Note Bird Colonel-this is a rear area (American lines) talking to liberated pows (he was not on the raid).
01:32:44:11 - B&W Philippines January 28th 1945 6th Rangers go to liberate Cabanatuan pow camp: Rangers adjust the leather slings of their M1s having just jumped off their Dodge 1/2 ton trucks. All wear soft hbt mechanic caps. Weapons are checked, given a last minute clean and then loaded. BAR gunner blows dirt and dust from his weapon so it does not foul. Rangers march off through 7 foot high cogon grass. Each carries basic M1936 susspenders, cartridge belts, two bandoleers and two canteens and one jungle first air kit as well as the smaller single envelope type first aid pouch. 98% of them wear the 1943 type hbts. You see them pass through the tall cogon grass and across a shallow river bed of knee depth. One Rangers lifts his cap to wave on those who follow.
01:33:49:01 - B&W Philippines January 30th 1945 liberated US pows from Cabanatuan POW Camp: Nice Cus faces and smiles of newly liberated pows resting in animal carts filled with straw. Captain Prince can be seen walking through the crowd. Liberated men talk with Rangers and are facially jubilant to be free. Pows are interviewed about their experiences and detailed notes are taken. Pows smoke Red Cross ciggarettes. Pow Doctor eats Philippino dish, Captain prince sits talks with Philippino scout and smiles for the camera. Colonel Mucci sits and writes a battle action report-loks over map and talks to what looks like S-2 Army Intelligence men. Mucci uses hand jestures to discribe the raid. Groups of liberated pows resting upon a hay stack and in animal carts. Ranger Vernon Abbot (shirtless w/ hbt AAC ball cap) talks with liberated pows. Nice CU of pow eating melon and grinning at camera. Water Buffalo chew on grass unlimbered from their carts as Rangers and pows talk about what they have just been through. L1 Piper Cub plane flys overhead as pow waves to it.

01:37:07:10 - B&W Philippines January 28th 1945 6th Rangers: Rangers with Philippino scouts made way through tall cogon grass on their way to liberate Allied pows at Cabanatuan. Crossing knee deep river bad, philippion scouts carry rocket launchers and boxes of rockets (in cardboard tubes) over their shoulders, BAR gunner wears a medics yoke, Philippino carrys box oc C rations, marching through tall cogon grass.
01:37:47:00 - B&W Philippines January 30th 1945 liberated Allied pows from Cabanatuan: pows marching back, grinning and knodding to camera, riding in jeeps and 1/2 ton trucks on their way back to US lines, looking happy and content yet worn out. All still wearing their tattered uniforms (what's left of them as they hang from their bodies) and their 1917A helmets and Campaign hats.
01:39:10:29 - B&W PTO 1944 rangers hit the beach: Note beach marker flag pitched in the dunes as rangers qucikly move inland as if under fire. Tractor pulls stuck tanks out of water/sea. Rangers man 75mm, beachead established. Rangers in Philippion village, note raner with M1a1 airborne folding stock carbine. A piper cub dismantled is brought in by a truck.
01:41:08:27 - B&W ETO 1945 British Armoured unit: Cromwell tanks move out with troops riding on back armed with stens MKIII. This is Holland-the poulder lands, Note tommy with captured MP40 riding on back of tank. Armoured collum make way through ruined village. Tommys toss a 36 mills omb at a Greman bunker-this is staged! Do note that they are wearing armoured and airborne helmets-they are NOT your typical tommy types-make note of that and DON"T use this for that.
01:45:17:12 - B&W ETO 1944: Rangers make way though desimated town-ruined german trucks, patrolling along a battle torn bridge-carefully! Laying on their bellies taking cover on bridge-radioman looks through binos as a battle rages in the town across the river. A wounded gi crawls on his side to get to cover on the bridge-great sequence.
01:49:59:14 - B&W ETO 1944 GI/Ranger MG team: 1917 water cooled is fired from a trench -gis in a trench line/ditch firing at germans across a river who are also dug in-in a ditch. GIs running across the bridge in a LS. Spent shell casings fly out from a M4 who is firing rounds at the german positions-note air recognition panal hanging from the back of the tank.
01:52:06:20 - B&W 1950s Stateside Training: Rangers in mock combat village, 1919A4 gunner sprays building-hand held-no gloves-he got balls! US 105mm battery fires rounds on training area. Note the white name tapes on their M-43 field jackets-these name tapes were NOT worn until the 1950s-DONT use this for WWII!
01:53:08:17 - B&W 1950 Stateside training-rangers: great-climbing a wall, fording a river in a raft-note 1950s blue and yellow miniature rank chevrons-do not use for WWII, great footage of post WWII rangers in training-good CUs on paddling down river. hand to hand combat-two men go at it, doing PT-runing, XCU on face painting, XCU ranger sneaking through brush w/ M3 grease gun, XCU on sign RANGER TRAINING CENTER. This is an excellent batch of 1950s training footage-rangers both black and white on exercise in the states. XCU finger traces map to show approach of attack. Raners parachuting-landing on sandy DZ in Georgia. Some chutes are WWII camo type-can use for WWII as long as you do not show the green nylon type chutes.
