- Story Text: Leopard prints, pink and midnight blues sparkle all over the catwalk as leading designers Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani unveil their 2007 Winter Collection.
At D&G, Dolce & Gabbana's younger line, the golden duo went wild with leopard print -- even using it to turn the catwalk into a BIG CAT walk.
The designers took a disco theme -- mixed with hints of 40s starlets in the dressing room.
Leopard print negligee-style evening dresses in floating chiffon encountered black velvet evening suits a la smoking, complete with long film star cigarette holders.
To the sound of "Disco Inferno" and Madonna's "Like a Virgin," models swung out in leopard print shorts so short they could only be worn in winter at the hottest nightspot.
Heels were high and spikey, a sharp contrast to Giorgio Armani, who put all his models in flat pumps and said after his show that you don't need high heels to be sexy.
Armani dressed his women almost entirely in skirts or dresses, ending just above the knee and using a gentle bubble curve to keep them feminine rather than smart.
He used latticed arm-covers, criss-crossing limbs from just below the shoulder to the wrist, and covered up hair in "cybernets" for his woman of the future, shot with glitter.
Armani also stepped away from his usual black to give us dove greys, pinks, viola and midnight blues, and put sparkle and lacquered black straps on bodices to contrast soft silk skirts.
The finale was a chandelier of a dress, made using what Armani called "leaves of crystal" to create a full-length dazzle. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
