- Story Text: U.S. film star Ashton Kutcher stole the limelight on Wednesday (June 15) at Brazil 's Sao Paulo Fashion Week, where the actor took a turn on the catwalk for label Colcci.
He opened the parade sharing the runway with Brazilian top model Alessandra Ambrosio, who replaced Brazil 's top paid beauty Gisele Bundchen to become the new face of Colcci.
Wearing jeans and striped shirt, Kutcher drew loud cries from the audience, but disappointed his fans making only a quick appearance in the show.
The 33-year-old model sat in the audience and watched the rest of the parade out of the spotlight.
Designer Juliana Costa said she was disappointed with Kuthcer's flash appearance.
"The participation of Alessandra was wonderful; she's a diva. But Ashton Kutcher still owes us one because he only showed up very quickly and walked out through the back door. He left us wanting more; I expected more," she said.
Fashion producer Hugo Marcel said he thinks celebrities like Kutcher undermine the actual parades.
"I don't like this (Kutcher's participation) because I think he takes the focus off of fashion itself, which is coming here and seeing what the trend is and learning more. He kills this purpose a bit and we end up attracting to the fashion show not only fashion lovers but fans who only want to see Ashton Kutcher," he said.
Brand Osklen, by celebrated designer Oskar Metsavaht, was also one of the evening's highlights with looks that mixed luxury and comfort. Metsavaht, who also opened stores in Europe, Asia and the U.S. , became famous for his environmental consciousness and outfits made from a wide range of natural fabrics.
Thirty-one Brazilian designers will present their upcoming collections throughout the week at the country's biggest fashion event. Brazil is Latin America 's biggest economy and has one of the world's fastest-growing fashion industries. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
