- Story Text: Paul Smith showed a womenswear collection inspired by men's shirts and trousers, rock 'n roll and a painting at London Fashion Week.
His creations for Spring/Summer 2011 included boyish looks of both tapered and wide legged trousers, jackets and man-style shirts.
Backstage, the designer told Reuters he was inspired by women borrowing their boyfriend's clothes.
"Shirts that go from this to this to that to that (gestures from small to large), and trousers that go from slim to big, so you know you look like you've borrowed them from your husband or your boyfriend," he said.
The collection also featured many feminine touches with floaty florals and subued shades of sage green and bordeaux .
Hair was 50s teddy boy style and accessories were simple.
The designer's womenswear show is always a favourite at London's five day fashion week which finishes September 22.
Among those still to show are Burberry, Jonathan Saunders, Stella McCartney and Pringle. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
