- Story Text: Northern Europe's biggest fashion event, Copenhagen Fashion Week, attracts more than 50,000 fashion buyers and journalists from across the globe for a glimpse of Scandinavian style for the upcoming autumn and winter.
For next autumn and winter, the designers at the ongoing Copenhagen Fashion Week dictate mostly black and pale colours, but also allow for a burst of colour.
One of the highlights of the week was Danish fashion brand Designers Remix, a brand known for its eccentricity. Their designer is crazy about Stanley Kubrick movies.
"This is '2001: A Space Odyssey'," Designers Remix designer Charlotte Eskildsen told Reuters Television after her show which was held in a ferry terminal.
In the last few years, with global warming high on the agenda, the designers at Copenhagen Fashion Week have become more environmentally aware and this is manifest in the way they pick their fabrics.
Danish luxury brand Noir only uses organic cotton in their designs.
"What inspires me is that our company can make luxurious clothing, but also do it in a politically correct way," Noir designer Peter Ingwersen said after his show at Copenhagen City Hall.
His views were echoed by Eskildsen:
"I think it is amazing that we can both make fashion and save the world," she said.
There was some controversy as some designers had chosen mink furs to dress the models in their shows.
Animal rights activists protested during the Designers Remix show, but Eskildsen said the minks had the best treatment before being slaughtered. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
