- Story Text: The last models are being chosen, final hemlines being sown and the all-important front row seat allocation for fashion editors and celebrities are being worked out as designers prepare for the 24th Paris Fashion Week on Monday (September 27).
After seeing collection in New York, London, Milan, the fashion pack is travel to Paris for the first day of shows on Tuesday (September 28).
Among those on the first day is Portuguese designer Fatima Lopes, who gave Reuters a rare insight view into her showroom as assistants were busy finalising last minute details.
At least a dozen models were on hand, hoping to be chosen to walk the Paris runway, as Lopes dressed and redressed models in her inspirations for spring/summer 2011.
"This is the most important fashion week, this is Paris. Of course I know I'm competing with all the best in the world but I think each designer has his own work. In my head, the other designers are not important for me. I want to do better than I did last time," Lopes told Reuters Television.
Highlights of the upcoming fashion week include shows by classic Parisian designers YSL, Christian Dior, and Chanel but other brands with a renewed focus and increasing fan base over the past few years include Lanvin, Isabel Marant and Balmain. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
