- Story Text: Colombia's renowned lingerie brand Leonisa turned on the heat in Lima on Thursday (November 26) during its runway show where models displayed the latest and hottest trends in women's intimate apparel and swimwear from South America.
Leonisa's 2009 "Garden of Dreams" show gathered thirteen Colombian and Peruvian models who presented a collection with different fabrics and a lot of glitter with a focus on flowers and colors.
Flowers such as chrysanthemums and daisies were the inspiration for designers Adelaida Giraldo and Maria Adelaida Prieto, who attempted to portray Latin American women with a youthful and irreverent spirit.
"Leonisa (lingerie brand) has been very dedicated into getting to know the Latin American women, understanding their needs, their tastes and their preferences. It (Leonisa lingerie brand) has been working to dive into the soul of the Latin woman. Because Latin (American) women, (we) have something special, it's like we have a special chip, a very unique way of being," said Colombian designer Maria Adelaida Prietto.
Orchids were the inspiration for the luxury, sophistication and elegance that the models presented in several flower-patterned creations with laces.
"This new trend is colourful, with a lot of flowers, just like the girls like it. You can find tiny (lingerie) and very comfortable ones as well," said one of the Peruvian models, Leslie Shaw.
The main goal of 2009's collection was to emphasize the exotic beauty of Latin women and many praised the outcome that was presented on the catwalk.
"The creations are excellent, very pretty indeed, I loved it," said backstage assistant, Gisella Cruz.
