- Story Text: Valencia-born Spanish designer Pepa Salazar unveiled her women's collection for Autumn/Winter 2013 on Tuesday (April 16) during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at a pop-up tent in Mexico City's Santa Fe.
Salazar's bold collection, with edgy designs including knots and volume, is directed at women with a strong personality.
Her clothes are drenched in different colours such as white, beige with tints of yellow and a range of blues up to black.
"They are clothes for women with attitude, with a lot of personality but not necessarily feminine but with character and the clothes were conceived, some with knots. I like working with volume and centre on technique. I try to eliminate all the seams I can and take the pattern to the limit because I like challenging myself. And well, the colours go from white, beige with tints of yellow and a range of blues up to black."
Also on Tuesday, Mexican designer Alejandro Carlin, presented his women's wear collection for Autumn/Winter 2013.
"It's a collection inspired by the art of feminine seduction but interpreted from my point of view. We also played with organic maritime figures which give us volume and draped shapes. It's the joint ensemble that provides this seductive proposal," said Carlin.
Dramatic skirts in black velvet, lace and sheer material dominated his seductive collection contrasting with light flowing lilac satin dresses and brick coloured flowing dresses and shirts.
Carlin has lived in Monterrey for the past 10 years and studied in Milan and London.
Dozens of mainly Latin American designers will showcase their latest creations in Mexico City from April 15 to April 18 at the glamorous event. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
