31. HOLLYWOOD FILM AWARDS SIGN
STORY:
Benedict Cumberbatch, Channing Tatum and Kristen Stewart were part of a packed red carpet for the 18th annual Hollywood Film Awards on Friday (November 14) evening in Los Angeles.
The awards are touted as the beginning of the ever longer Hollywood award season. Pervious award winners include Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, who won best actor and best supporting actor, respectively, for their roles in "Dallas Buyers Club" and went on to win Academy Awards for the same roles.
The 18th annual award show marks the televised debut of the awards and it was the first time in this award show's history that award winners were not announced before the show.
Most celebrities attending were eager to praise the work of their colleagues in the industry. '
"I saw "The Imitation Game" this year. Benedict Cumberbatch knocked my socks off. He really had me involved there in his performance. Yeah, credit to him. It's a good time to be British here right now isn't it," said English actor Jack O'Connell, star of Angelina Jolie's upcoming film "Unbroken."
"I thought Emma Stone in 'Birdman' was beautiful. In fact all the cast in 'Birdman.' I thought that Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern in 'Wild' were fantastic," said Eddie Redmayne, who plays Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything."
The Hollywood Film Awards aired on CBS on Friday night.
