- Story Text: A hardline pro-Taliban group in Pakistan has called
for a Jihad or holy war against America following a wave of
airstrikes against targets across Afghanistan.
Hardline pro-Taliban groups in Pakistan rallied in
support of Osama bin Laden and the Taliban on Sunday (October
7) night, calling for a Jihad against America.
"Jamiat Ulema Islam will fight shoulder to shoulder with
their Taliban brothers in this critical hour", leader of the
Jamiat Ulema Islam group, Mullah Fazlr Rahman said in a
statement read by his spokesman.
"Afghanistan has a history of never buckling under foreign
aggression. God willing, this time the right side will win and
the Americans will be humiliated".
Rahman has announced nationwide strikes and rallies
throughout the country on Monday (October 8) in which a call
for Jihad against America will be given.
Pakistani authorities placed Rahman under house arrest on
Sunday morning. The arrest was lifted on Sunday evening.
