Summary:A Boeing 747 jumbo jet of Japan Air Lines was blazing at Benghazi airport in Libya on July 24 1973 after a gang of hijackers had blown the aircraft up. The drama began four days earlier, when the hijackers, Arabs and Japanese, seized the plane shortly after it had taken off from Amsterdam. With 137 hostages aboard, it finally landed in Libya. One of the gang was killed while the jet was flying over Europe, but all the passengers and crew escaped unhurt.
