- Story Text: Thousands of South Koreans denounce North Korea's nuclear test at a rally in Seoul.
More than 6,000 South Koreans denounced North Korea's recent nuclear test at a rally on Friday (February 22) in Seoul.
Protesters stamped on banners bearing photographs of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, urging the isolated state towards denuclearisation.
"We are here today to urge North Korea's Kim Jong-un to get out from "nuclear fantasy" and to cooperate with the international society as quickly as possible," said Park Chang-dal, President of Korea Freedom Federation.
The unpredictable country conducted its third nuclear test last week, in defiance of U.N. resolutions.
Pyongyang said the aim of the test was to bolster its defences given the hostility of the United Sates, which has led a push to impose sanctions on North Korea.
North Korea has already told key ally China that it is prepared to stage one or two more tests this year to force the United States into diplomatic talks, a source with direct knowledge of the message told Reuters last week. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
