Summary:Lake Nakuru National Park in Kenya is one of the world's biggest flamingo sanctuaries and it was assured of remaining so when, on August 29 1973, Kenya's President Kenyatta received a cheque for 450,000 dollars from the President of the World Wildlife Fund, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. In receiving the money - and the promise of more - President Kenyatta said Kenya was committed to the preservation of its wildlife.
