- Story Text: The men of "Ocean's Thirteen", Brad Pitt and their crew, created a frenzy at the Cannes Film Festival as they arrived on Thursday (May 24) for the world premiere of the latest film in the franchise.
"Ocean's Thirteen" stars Clooney and Pitt as suave con men who rob casinos, and is as easy-going as the blockbusters preceding it -- "Ocean's Eleven" and "Ocean's Twelve".
The cast members were bombarded with autograph requests from crowds of fans who had waited hours for a glimpse of their favourite stars.
One female fan couldn't believe her luck at getting so close to her idol George Clooney.
"He (George Clooney) have passed just behind me, to one metre. It was okay," she gushed.
However, Ramona Tahadi, from the Netherlands, was disappointed not to be in the theatre screening the film.
"A little bit disappointed because I'm not invited to go in." she said.
Actor Brad Pitt was accompanied by Angelina Jolie and the pair held hands as they waved to the crowds.
Jolie, who has been in Cannes to promote her separate movie "A Mighty Heart", looked striking in a full length lemon yellow gown.
Singer Kylie Minogue also turned up, wearing a black dress with see-through panels.
Other stars who attended included fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese, and model Petra Nemcova.
At an earlier news conference, the cast of "Ocean's Thirteen" gave tongue-in-cheek responses to dispel any impression that "Ocean's" aspired to the art house cinema that was Cannes's trademark.
The first movie delighted audiences and raked in 450 million U.S. dollars (USD) at box offices worldwide. While some fans and critics were disappointed with "Twelve," it nevertheless reaped a sizeable 363 million (USD).
"Ocean's Thirteen" sticks closely to the formula of the first two: a lot of laughs, some silly gags and a big heist. But there is a twist: the conmen are not in it for the money.
The charity of Clooney, Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and producer Jerry Weintraub does not stop on the movie screen.
They also came to the world's largest film festival to raise money and awareness for refugees in the Darfur region of Sudan.
The men of "Ocean's Thirteen" -- Brad Pitt, George Clooney and their crew -- have turned their Hollywood hype machine into a campaign to raise money for Darfur refugees.
Four "Ocean's Thirteen" cast members -- Clooney, Pitt and fellow actors Don Cheadle and Matt Damon -- and producer Jerry Weintraub launched the Not On Our Watch Foundation to raise money and draw attention to the refugees.
Earlier this week, they raised 10 million U.S. dollars at a Cannes party, and in June they head to Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Chicago for similar charity events.
