- Story Text: Fans filed into an Argentine movie theater on Thursday (July 17) to watch the Latin American premiere of the highly-anticipated Batman movie, "The Dark Knight."
'The Dark Knight," directed by Christopher Nolan, follows Batman as he sets out to destroy organised crime in Gotham City for good.
Bruce Wayne finds himself falling prey to the criminal mastermind known as the Joker, played by Heath Ledger.
Most fans, like Osvaldo Medina, said they enjoyed the film.
"Great! As one who has already seen several Batman movies, it's good to see something new," he said.
The movie stars actor Christian Bale who played Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman.
The portrayal of the Joker by co-star Heath Ledger, who died earlier this year, has created an Oscar buzz which this movie-goer said was well-deserved.
"The truth is it's the best Batman I've seen of all of them and (Heath Ledger as) the Joker should get a posthumous Oscar because he's unsurpassable," said Cristian Mayorga.
Of course, not everyone enjoyed the movie. Some said they preferred an earlier version, like the 1989 "Batman," produced by Tim Burton and co-starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson.
"I liked Tim Burton's better. I think the latest Batman movies are horrible. I don't like Christian Bale as an actor. I would prefer it if Michael Keaton would return," said Diego Rodriguez.
The star-studded cast includes Aaron Eckert, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Maggie Gyllenhaal. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
