- Story Text: Funnyman Jim Carrey was the subject of praise on the red carpet at the premiere of his latest film "Yes Man" in London on Tuesday (December 9) night.
The actor arrived with co-star Zooey Deschanel atop a traditional London double-decker bus.
"Yes Man" follows the life of Carl Allen (Carrey), a man whose life is transformed when he decides to say 'yes' at every opportunity.
It is based on the book of the same title by British writer Danny Wallace, who wrote it based on personal experience.
"I sat at home, and I wrote down what I'd done, which was to say yes to everything. And suddenly here I am in Leicester Square. And Jim Carrey just got off a bus. And we're gonna go and watch the film. So, it feels amazing, it feels great," said Wallace.
His feeling was shared by everyone who was part of the film, including lead star Carrey.
"Oh I had a blast. Such a great time -- there were so many funny people on the set. Rhys Darby, Danny Masterson, and Peyton Reed, the director, was a lunatic, so. I actually for the first time was able to sit back and enjoy myself, between takes. It was wonderful," Carrey said.
Deschanel plays Allison, a singer/jogging instructor/photographer who becomes Allen's love interest. The actress said it was a pleasure to work with Jim Carrey.
"He's a very good actor and so he makes my job very easy. It's much easier to work with a great actor, and he's a great actor."
Her sentiments were echoed by the film's director, Peyton Reed.
"This film was a blast because working with Jim, we laughed all day long. You can't work with Jim and not laugh all day long. And it was a good pairing of material for Jim also because, he's kind of in real life, organically just a 'yes man'. He just leaps into everything he does, you know.
And it makes my job easier as director because he's just so excited about coming to work everyday," said Reed.
Carrey took his role to heart and said 'yes' to everything, including doing his own stunts and learning a new language for the film. The comedian not only volunteered to bungee jump off a bridge, but took Korean lessons as part of his role.
"You know, it was harder than the coach than it was for me. It really was. It was painful for him. And he was from Korea so you know, he was really worried about going home. So he said 'Please get it right, I'll never be able to go home again' so I think I did pretty good. And I'm ready for my dinner with Kim Jong-Il next week. Yeah I'm selling some nuclear secrets, and you know, plutonium," joked the star.
Briton David Heyman, producer of the Harry Potter films, took a break from the wizarding world to work on this project.
"I just love the positive sort of theme of this film, about embracing the possibilities of life. And working with Jim Carrey is a real privilege, he is hysterical. And, you know, it's been great," said Heyman.
