- Summary: LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (MARCH 12, 2011) (REUTERS) VARIOUS OF ACTRESS ASTRID BERGES-FRISBEY TALKING TO REPORTERS (SOUNDBITE) (English) ASTRID BERGES-FRISBEY, ON BEING IN WATER FOR MOST OF THE TIME, SAYING "They heat it. So it was quite perfect, because -- Rob wants every actor as comfortable as possible. And that was really important. Because we were doing night shots and you can't be in ten or twelve hours in the water if it's cold. It's just impossible." VARIOUS OF GEOFFREY RUSH POSING FOR PICTURES (SOUNDBITE) (English) GEOFFREY RUSH, ON THE ACTION SCENES, SAYING: "Oh, they're my favourite bit. I mean I always love to have a challenge, and I'm not a very good swordsman. But I've really got to work at that, because it's important. As an older pirate you gotta really believe that Barbossa has survived against all the odds. Which means -- he's just a dirty fighter. He's a great survivor." VARIOUS OF PENELOPE CRUZ ARRIVING CRUZ TALKING TO REPORTER (SOUNDBITE) (English) PENELOPE CRUZ, ON THE MALE DOMINATED CAST, SAYING "They were so sweet. They couldn't have been nicer to me, all of them. But it was interesting to have to do some of those scenes where I was the only woman giving orders to a hundred men in a boat." JOHNNY DEPP POSING FOR PHOTOGRAPHS AND WAVING AT FANS (SOUNDBITE) (English) JOHNNY DEPP, ON WORKING WITH PENELOPE, SAYING: "--She's amazing -- we did a film together many years back -- and she's a wonderful actress, very talented, super sweet, very funny." CLOSE UP OF DEPP SPEAKING TO PRESS (SOUNDBITE) (English) JOHNNY DEPP, ON LEAVING PENELOPE ON AN ISLAND, SAYING "I'd actually be ok with it, for a while anyway, yeah. (REPORTER OFF ASKING QUESTION WHETHER IT WAS OK FOR JACK TO LEAVE ANGELICA BEHIND) "No, it was probably a little bit mean but -- I knew she was gonna get out of there. I'd read the script." VARIOUS OF CRUZ TALKING TO REPORTERS (SOUNDBITE) (English) PENELOPE CRUZ, ON WORKING ON FILM WHILE PREGNANT, SAYING "Well, we trained for two months before the movie and that really helped to know all the choreographies, all the fights. And then we did what we could, being very safe, doing nothing dangerous ever. But they were so helpful and so supportive and protective of me." CRUZ POSING FOR PICTURES (SOUNDBITE) (English) ROB MARSHALL, ON PENELOPE BEING PREGNANT DURING FILMING, SAYING "Well, we found out early on so we were able to move the schedule around so she wasn't showing too much. And she is an exquisite woman, you know, she works so hard and -- so we just were careful. You know, we wanted to make sure that she was taken care of. Johnny was very careful, I was very careful, John deLuca. We were all really careful to make sure that she was, you know, taken care of as you know -- because she had her baby. But it's kinda nice in retrospective that it was a boy. Cause she had to play a tomboy so I think there was some masculine energy in there."

- Story Text: Stars of the 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' attended the UK premiere of the fourth movie in the francise at Westfield centre in London on Thursday (may 12) evening.
The moviethe story line for some of the earlier characters, and introduces others.
Director Rob Marshall, who won an Oscar for his film "Chicago", took over in the directing chair from Gore Verbinski who was in charge of the three previous movies. Marshall said he wanted to make sure that we would add his own touch to the franchise.
"It was great that the whole story line was completely new, so I felt very like we were beginning," he told Reuters Television. "I like to bring pace and rhythm to a film. I also like to bring a clear narrative and exciting ride. It is a lot of action in the film so it's a lot of really fun things. There's a great exciting sequence with mermaids, which you know is not your normal mermaids. They're sort of, you know, killers. So that's really scary and really fun. So it's an exciting new adventure," he added.
Another character newly introduced to the franchise is pirate lady Angelica, a woman from Captain Jack Sparrow's past, and, so it seems, the only one who won his heart. Johnny Depp, who plays the part of Jack Sparrow in the movie, said he enjoyed working with Penelope Cruz.
"She's amazing, we did a film together many years back ... and she's a wonderful actress, very talented, super sweet, very funny."
Cruz, who looked stunning in a white Givenchy dress at the London premiere, was back in perfect shape, after giving birth to son Leo in January. The actress was pregnant at the time of filming but continued working on set.
"We trained for two months before the movie and that really helped to know all the choreographies, all the fights", Cruz remembers. "And then we did what we could, being very safe, doing nothing dangerous ever. But they were so helpful and so supportive and protective of me."
Director Rob Marshall even suggested jokingly the pregnancy might have helped her with the role.
"It's kinda nice in retrospective that it was a boy. Cause she had to play a tomboy so I think there was some masculine energy in there."
In this latest "Pirates of the Caribbean" adventure Jack Sparrow finds himself on a journey to the so-called Fountain of Youth, on which he doesn't just come across a lot of obstacles, but also an old flame.
The movie is shown in 2D as well as 3D and is out in cinemas on May 18. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
