And she tries to go after what she believes in, and, you know, what she considers the right thing to do. She's probably a little more naive than I am. But then she's lived in a really small town her entire life and I've worked in this business my entire life, so I guess that kind of goes without saying. But she's-- she's a good girl, you know. And she just goes after what she believes in and, you know, that's something I would like to say about myself." ANNA PAQUIN AND ALEXANDER SKARSGARD TALKING TO MEDIA (SOUNDBITE) (English) ANNA PAQUIN ON WHY FANS ARE SO DEVOTED TO "TRUE BLOOD," SAYING: "It's an exciting story. The characters are really beautifully drawn. It's really emotionally rich. These are the reasons I love doing it as an actor and I'm assuming those are the things that fans respond to when they watch it." SAM TRAMMELL AND STEPHEN MOYER INTERACT ON RED CARPET (SOUNDBITE) (English) STEPHEN MOYER ON SEEING PARTS OF HIMSELF IN HIS "TRUE BLOOD" CHARACTER, SAYING: "I think you can't not do three years of television and parts of you start becoming, you know-- and when you've got a writing staff that are inventing stuff all the time, they're looking at the character that they've written for, and they're seeing the actor. And they're starting to shape what that actor gets. So, it definitely-- you can't help but sort of seep into it and it seep into you as well." (SOUNDBITE) (English) SAM TRAMMELL ON SEEING PARTS OF HIMSELF IN HIS "TRUE BLOOD CHARACTER," SAYING: "Sam's kind of a private person, which I am. You know, he's good superficially with people, but he doesn't let people really in. Which is kind of like me. But, you know, I'm from the South, which is another similarity. Yeah, there's some things." SAM TRAMMELL AND RYAN KWANTEN TALKING TO MEDIA TOUR BUS WITH "TRUE BLOOD" POSTER ON THE SIDE (SOUNDBITE) (English) ALEXANDER SKARSGARD ON WHAT HE LIKES ABOUT HIS "TRUE BLOOD" CHARACTER, SAYING: "I just love the way he's written-- 'cause he starts out as such a cold, bad guy, and kind of cynical and evil. But then slowly you get to know him better and you see that there's more to the character than that. And, you know, we're on Season 3 now. We're wrapping up Season 3. We're just shooting the last two episodes right now. And it's, it's amazing how he's still like-- kind of like you keep discovering things all the time. I'm having a blast, I really am." RUTINA WESLEY TALKING TO MEDIA RUTINA WESLEY, ANNA PAQUIN AND DEBORAH ANN WOLL POSING FOR PHOTOS (SOUNDBITE) (English) RUTINA WESLEY ON WORKING WITH ANNA PAQUIN, SAYING: "I love her. I love her. GRANT BOWLER TALKING TO A REPORTER (SOUNDBITE) (English) GRANT BOWLER ON WHY FANS ARE SO DEVOTED TO "TRUE BLOOD," SAYING: "I think they're great stories about good and evil. I think 'True Blood' in particular is a really interesting take on moral ambiguity. And I think it mirrors the world we live in. At a safe distance." WIDE SHOT OF RED CARPET (SOUNDBITE) (English) KRISTIN BAUER ON THE FANS OF "TRUE BLOOD," SAYING: "It's such an incredible gift. 'Cause we're in this little experiment. This little petri dish doing the show. And, then we come out and I go, 'Whoa. How cool.' Like, we're getting to share all that work with all these people. And they're participating, which is so much fun. They're contributing to it. They're excited about it. They're blogging. They're character role-playing." - Story Text: Hollywood couple Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer hit red carpet together for the "True Blood" Season 3 premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday (June 8) night.
Paquin and Moyer lead the cast of the show and are engaged to be married in real life.
"True Blood" is an American television series based on the "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" series of novels by Charlaine Harris.
It details the co-existence of vampires, werewolves and humans in Bon Temps, a fictional small town in Louisiana.
The series centers on a character named Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress in love with a 173-year-old vampire known as Bill Compton.
Paquin plays Stackhouse and Moyer portrays Compton.
Paquin, 27, talked about the similarities between she and her character.
"She's very honest. And she just goes after what she believes in and, you know, that's something I would like to say about myself."
Paquin also commented on why she thinks fans are so devoted to the show.
"It's an exciting story. The characters are really beautifully drawn. It's really emotionally rich. These are the reasons I love doing it as an actor and I'm assuming those are the things that fans respond to when they watch it."
Paquin's first critically successful film was "The Piano" with Holly Hunter. The part earned her the best supporting actress Oscar in 1994 at the age of 11, making her the second youngest Academy Award-winner in history after Tatum O'Neal.
She was born in Canada and raised in New Zealand.
Moyer, 40, also shared his thoughts on why he and his character are alike in certain ways.
"I think you can't not do three years of television and parts of you start becoming, you know-- and when you've got a writing staff that are inventing stuff all the time, they're looking at the character that they've written for, and they're seeing the actor. And they're starting to shape what that actor gets. So, it definitely-- you can't help but sort of seep into it and it seep into you as well."
Moyer was born in England and graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
Co-star Sam Trammell additionally commented on the traits he believes he shares with his on-screen persona.
"Sam's kind of a private person, which I am," smiled Trammell, 39. "You know, he's good superficially with people, but he doesn't let people really in. Which is kind of like me. But, you know, I'm from the South, which is another similarity. Yeah, there's some things."
Trammell plays a shapeshifter in the show.
Fellow cast member Alexander Skarsgard, 33, talked about why he liked his character.
"I just love the way he's written-- 'cause he starts out as such a cold, bad guy, and kind of cynical and evil. But then slowly you get to know him better and you see that there's more to the character than that. And, you know, we're on Season 3 now. We're wrapping up Season 3. We're just shooting the last two episodes right now. And it's, it's amazing how he's still like-- kind of like you keep discovering things all the time. I'm having a blast, I really am."
Skarsgard, born in Stockholm, is the son of Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard.
He plays a 1000-year-old vampire sheriff in the series.
Grant Bowler, who plays a biker werewolf in "True Blood," talked about why he thinks the show is so popular.
"I think they're great stories about good and evil," said Bowler, 41. "I think 'True Blood' in particular is a really interesting take on moral ambiguity. And I think it mirrors the world we live in. At a safe distance."
Bowler is originally from New Zealand.
Meanwhile, Kristin Bauer expressed her appreciation for the fans.
"It's such an incredible gift," noted Bauer, 36. 'Cause we're in this little experiment. This little petri dish doing the show. And, then we come out and I go, 'Whoa. How cool.' Like, we're getting to share all that work with all these people. And they're participating, which is so much fun. They're contributing to it. They're excited about it. They're blogging. They're character role-playing."
Also spotted on the red carpet was a bright blue, strapless evening gown designed by Victoria Beckham. It was worn by "True Blood" actress Carrie Preston.
Celebrity guests included actor Bill Paxton and actress Kate Bosworth.
"True Blood" is broadcast on the cable network HBO in the United States.
The first season received critical acclaim and won several major awards, including one Golden Globe and an Emmy.
