- Story Text: As the holiday spirit sets in, the stars of Hollywood's latest romantic comedy "The Holiday" walked the red carpet at the movie's premiere in New York on Wednesday (November 29).
Looking stunning, leading lady Cameron Diaz walked the red carpet wearing a shimmering metallic mini dress. Co-star British actress Kate Winslet took a step back, gushing at how good her friend looked, saying "Oh my god, she's wearing a tiny dress! She looks amazing!"
The once blonde actress posed for photographs until she caught sight of her costars Winslet and actor Jude Law. The actress gave a cheer of excitement as she made her way toward the pair, embracing each of them.
It seems the threesome made an impression on each other and bonded while making the film. Diaz certainly seemed to charm her British cast mates, as well as "The Holiday" writer/director Nancy Meyers.
Meyers, who is also the creative force behind films like "Somthing's Gotta Give," and :"What Women Want," says she wrote the film with Diaz and Winslet in mind for as the leading ladies. So these two women are having problems and once out of their environment they can let go a little bit of some of the issues they really struggle with."
Asked whom she would choose to swap homes with, Meyers quickly responds, "Cameron Diaz...why not?" Later Meyers adds that Diaz is "the happiest person I know."
Actress Kate Winslet agrees with Meyers' statement, and also commented on how charmed a life she believes Diaz leads. In a stunning black satin Zac Posen suit, Winslet looked wonderful herself, but the actress
The film follows the stories of two women, Iris played by Winslet and Amanda played by Diaz. While they live 6,000 miles apart, the two find themselves in the same situation, desperate for a life change.
The two women who have never met, find each other online and arrange to swap homes for the holiday. Iris moves to Amanda's Los Angeles house, and Amanda makes her way to the snowy English countryside.
To their surprise, each of the women find something they didn't expect in their new surroundings -- love. Amanda hooks up with Iris' brother Graham played by Jude Law, while Iris finds the cure to her broken heart when she meets a composer named Miles, played by Jack Black.
The film is scheduled for release in North America on December 8. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
