- Story Text: It's not the cool James Bond role, but nevertheless no less touching. Bond star Daniel Craig on Sunday (April 13) attended the world premiere of his new British film 'Flashbacks Of A Fool'.
Craig plays Joe Scott, a washed up film star whose hedonistic life has taken its toll, in the film written for him by Baillie Walsh, who also directed it.
It tells the story of the teenage years of Joe set in a small English seaside town and intertwines with the middle-aged actor trying to come to terms with his troubled past.
It was a project, both actor and director had been wanting to do for a while:
"We wanted to get this movie made because I knew that he'd make a beautiful and touching movie and I don't need much more of an excuse than that plus the fact that we were getting together a great bunch of actors including Mark all of whom I've either worked with before or have enjoyed working on this." said Craig.
"He was a great friend and I wrote it for Daniel about 5 or 6 years ago, he still is a great friend not was, and luckily he had great success and enabled then film to be made." added Walsh.
Joe's younger self is played by Harry Eden, 18, whose previous roles include The Artful Dodger in Roman Polanski's Oliver Twist. A6t his side was young actress Felicity Jones. Both got a chance to sing a well-known Roxy Music song.
"We spent a lot of time at Pineapple Dance Studio for hours ina room with no windows trying to learn how to dance."
Eden has to play to sex roles with older actress Jodhi May,and said it was ok to get used to.
"I was a bit nervous at first, my first day was actually the sex scene, I had no clothes on but it was all right after a couple of hours it was just like every other scene really."
Also at the premiere, was singer Lily Allen who accompanied her brother Alfie who also stars in the movie .
As for star Daniel Craig, this premiere was not about Bond:
"That's a really roundabout way of asking me about James Bond, funnily enough no one has asked me one question all evening." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
