- Story Text: Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson walked the carpet together in Los Angeles Thursday (December 11) night at the premiere for their new film "Marley & Me."
In the movie, Aniston and Wilson play a married couple who buy a yellow Labrador Retriever to prepare for parenthood.
The story is based on a best-selling book of the same name about the chaos that unfolds when a Miami newspaper columnist and his wife get Marley to give them a taste of parenthood before starting a family.
Marley is an adorable and cuddly puppy when John (Wilson) and Jenny (Aniston) Grogan bring him home. But he soon proves to be a destructive and hyperactive handful.
He wreaks havoc on their lives yet manages to win their hearts.
The young dog destroys anything into which he can sink his teeth, gets expelled from obedience school, and becomes even more rambunctious when children begin to arrive.
But the lively Lab becomes an indispensable part of the Grogan family, who they view to be a role model and mentor of unconditional love and devotion.
Ultimately, they come to cherish what Marley teaches them all about the art of enjoying and living life to the fullest for the 13 years he is with the family.
Aniston said her own experience with dogs got off to a rough start.
"Well I was a late bloomer with dogs. I mean I had one when I was-- but it was my brother's dog. I was three. I pulled its tail. It hated me. But my dog-loving life started with Norman."
Norman is Aniston's beloved terrier-corgi mix. She also owns a white shepherd mix named Dolly.
Popular rock musician John Mayer made time for the premiere to show support for Aniston.
The two began dating again in October
"You know, I was debating in the car," explained Mayer.
"Because I can be very sort of overprotective me of myself and the people I love. And I went, you know what? This is sort of a timeless event, a timeless event. The movie premiere. There's no reason to be shy at a movie premiere."
At 31, Mayer is 8 years younger than Aniston.
Rumours have swirled in recent months as to whether or nor Aniston and Mayer might be planning to get pregnant.
But when Aniston was asked whether or not she saw herself starting a family in the near future like her character in the movie, she sidestepped the question and was whisked away by handlers.
"(Do you see yourself following in the footsteps of your character some day?) Reporting, or--? (No, no, no.) Meanwhile, actor Eric Dane shared what life on the set was like working with children and dozens of dogs.
"You just let them do their thing," shared 36-year-old Dane.
"There is no point in trying to compete with them, dogs and kids, But, you know, I think W.C. Fields said you should never work with kids or dogs. I had a good time working with the dogs."
Veteran actor and Oscar winner Alan Arkin also found making this movie to be a positive experience..
"Enormously enjoyable experience because of David Frankel and because of Owen Wilson," shared 74-year-old Arkin. "And both terrific guys. And they work the set in a very unusual and lovely way. It's very calm, peaceful, exploratory atmosphere."
When shown the cover of the January 2009 GQ Magazine featuring Aniston wearing nothing but a tie and a smile, Dane was all compliments.
"She looks great at 40. She looks 30. 40 is the new 30."
Aniston officially turns 40 on February 11, 2009.
Wilson, 40, talked to few reporters at the premiere.
The movie and press interviews mark a return to Hollywood for 40-year-old Wilson after his alleged suicide attempt in August of 2007.
