- Story Text: Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn on Wednesday (June 14, 2006) turned up in London for the UK premiere of their new film "The Break-Up" but would not answer any questions on their rumoured relationship.
Journalists tried in all possible ways to ask the question that everybody wants answered, but the two Hollywood stars refused to go near the topic.
The actors were welcomed by hundreds of screaming fans and took time to sign autographs and take the occasional picture.
The movie, a romantic comedy about a couple and their troubled relationship superseded expectations when it went straight to number one at the U.S. box office at its opening weekend.
It may be Jennifer Aniston's long-awaited break-through from the girl next door in the TV hit series "Friends" to the big screen. "I hope so, I'll just keep going back as long as I'm invited," Aniston said.
Vaughn, who helped produce the film said he could identify somewhat with his character. "I have some similarities but I'm definitely not identical to Gary," he said, adding that he does like a game or two of Playstation. "Unfortunately as unflattering as it is I do enjoy playing video games sometimes, I do like watching sporting events and that kind of stuff but things are exaggerated obviously for the movie," he said.
Aniston almost missed out on a role in the movie because film bosses thought it would be insensitive to ask her so soon after her split from Brad Pitt.
The star jumped at the chance to confront the issue, once producers plucked up the courage to ask her.
Since making the film Aniston and Vaughn have avoided tabloid photographers and any direct questions about their relationship, but praise each other professionally.
"She was the only person we thought of that was so good with comedy and the movie also takes unexpected turns so you need someone who's also good with drama so she was terrific," said Vaughn about Aniston.
In the film Aniston plays Brooke who calls it quits with her boyfriend Gary, played by Vaughn, but neither is willing to move out of the condo they share.
Taking the advice of their respective friends, the characters both engage in mental warfare designed to force the other person to flee the premises until they both realise they might be fighting to keep their relationship alive.
The title and subject matter hits close to home for Aniston who was going through a very public break-up with ex husband Pitt during filming.
