- Story Text: Dwayne Johnson and Billy Bob Thornton shared the spotlight with some classic cars at the Hollywood premiere of the action thriller "Faster." The screening took place Monday night (November 22) at the legendary Grauman's Chinese Theatre, where several of the cars that star in the film graced the arrival line.
"We went through a total of 6 of those cars," explained Johnson, on the cost of the film's high octane car chase scenes. "So luckily, we spent some dollars, it's alright, it's all in the business of entertainment."
In the film, Johnson plays Driver, who after 10 years in prison, has a singular focus - to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched bank robbery that led to his imprisonment. Now a free man, he's finally on his mission…but with two men on his trail - a veteran cop played by Billy Bob Thornton just days from retirement, and a deadly hitman, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, with a flair for the art of killing, the plot takes on a classic case of kill or be killed.
Johnson believes the action film should be able to find an audience at the box office.
"If you are a guy and come Monday you don't want to be the guy that goes to work and everyone is asking what you you did this weekend, 'I went to go see The Rock kick ass at the movies. What did you do?' You don't want to be the guy that says, 'My girl took me to the chick flick.' You don't want to be that guy," joked Johnson.
