- Story Text: Demi Moore and husband Ashton Kutcher in London for her latest crime caper 'Flawless'.
Accompanied by husband Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore for the London premiere of her heist thriller 'Flawless' on Wednesday (November 26).
In the film Moore plays Laura Quinn, a smart, ambitious and dedicated female executive in the male dominated environment of the world's leading diamond corporation in 1960 London.
Constantly passed over for promotion by less able male colleagues, Moore's Laura is frustrated by her career hitting the glass ceiling of the company, but still determined not to give up on her dreams.
Enter Mr Hobbs, played by Oscar winner Michael Caine, a janitor with a lifetime of service at the company. Hobbs manages to convince Laura that she will never be allowed to achieve her ultimate career goals, or be taken seriously as an equal in what is essentially the man's world of the corporation. Hobbs talks Laura into taking revenge on her employers.
The unlikely partners in crime plan the perfect heist to punish the firm that has maltreated them both - and set themselves up for life in the process.
But when the heist goes even better than imagined, Laura realises Hobbs' motives for the theft aren't as crystal clear as they appear and that the theft is just the beginning of his real plans for the company.
"I was fascinated by the time period because it's a really transitional time period, going from the 50's into the early 60's. And I think that I look around at a lot of women, friends, who sit in that same position of struggling with devoting so much of their lives to their career and kind of the realisation of what's really important. So, yeah, I think it was a lot of timely things as well," Moore told Reuters Television, on her attraction to the role of Laura.
The film reunites Caine and Moore on screen after almost 25 years: Caine played her father in the comedy 'Blame It on Rio', which was her first significant film role.
"I think it was an incredible gift. First of all he is an absolute inspiration, such an incredibly talented actor and I think definitely the maturity on my side gave me much greater appreciation," Moore said of working with Caine again.
