I don't call it a sequel to the first one cause it doesn't take place in Radiator Springs and it's a completely movie so I would consider it a completely different movie. It's unbelievable. You think "Cars" one was good. This movie literally makes me embarrassed I was in that one. That's how good it is." WIDESHOT OF RED CARPET

- Story Text: Owen WIlson, Eddie Izzard and the starts of the new Disney-Pixar film "Cars 2" walk the red carpet in Hollywood Saturday night. (JUNE 18) Owen Wilson reprises his role as star racecar, Lighting McQueen, in the sequel to the 2006 film, "Cars". This time McQueen heads overseas to compete in the first ever World Grand Prix to determine the world's fastest car. Lighting McQueen brings along his truster compatriot tow truck Mater, voiced by Larry the Cable Guy, and they quickly find themselves tangled up in a case of international espionage.
"This is completely different than the first. I don't call it a sequel to the first one cause it doesn't take place in Radiator Springs and it's a completely movie so I would consider it a completely different movie. It's unbelievable. You think "Cars" one was good. This movie literally makes me embarrassed I was in that one. That's how good it is," said Larry the Cable Guy.
Emily Mortimer plays rookie field spy Holley Shiftwell who help orchestrate the top-secret mission Mater and Lighting McQueen become a part of. Mortimer was amazed by the detail and ability of the the folks at Pixar. She said "Cars 2" was amazingly well done spy film and hinted it might even be the best.
"It's incredibly complex, class, and suspenseful but it's got more than sort of any action movies because it's also incredibly funny and the story is just water tight. And the characters are complex and well drawn. So you know it trumps them all," Mortimer told Reuters.
Eddie Izzard voices the film's villain, Miles Axelrod, and while admitting his career has been almost schizophrenic as he goes from serious drama to his stand-up routine this role demanded a more even approach.
Said Izzard, "I had to play him quit straight. I couldn't really muck about with him much because the story does kind of hinge around him. He's in a pivotal portion if I just say that because of what he comes up with. He's set up the Grand Prix. He's come up with this new fossil fuel.. So I had to play him really quite straight down the line."
And not to be outdone Owen Wilson said he loved being a part of the Cars films and that his favorite trait of Lightning McQueen was the character's excitement. He also added that animated films were more enjoyable to be a part of.
"I actually like working in animated movies because you don't have to worry about, you know, any wardrobe or any stuff like that. It's just you're in your imagination," said Wilson.
