- Story Text: Stars Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger and January Jones lined up on the on the red carpet on Wednesday night (February 16) for the Los Angeles premiere of their latest film - "Unknown."
Neeson, who earned an Oscar nomination for his role in "Schindler's List," plays Dr. Martin Harris, who survives a car accident in Berlin only to discover that his wife (January Jones) suddenly doesn't recognize him, and another man (Aidan Quinn) has assumed his identity.
Ignored by disbelieving authorities and hunted by assassins, he finds himself alone, tired, and on the run in a strange country.
Martin seeks aid from an unlikely and reluctant source (Diane Kruger) as he plunges headlong into a deadly mystery that will force him to question his sanity, his identity, and just how far he's willing to go to uncover the truth.
"He's a normal guy, he's not a superhero at all," Neeson said, describing his role. "Yet he and Diane's character, do heroic acts. But it is still very humanly based, there are no superheroes."
Kruger said she was challenged by her role.
"When you see the role on paper - a Bosnian immigrant cab driver/waitress - you do not necessarily think of Diane Kruger right away," said the actress.
"It was a real challenge, doing an accent is a real challenge, no matter what. You have to make sure that it doesn't become the performance. Then, I love that she is the heroine, the one that saves the day. She has her own story line and she quite a layered character, very tough but also vulnerable," Kruger said.
The film also stars January Jones and Aidan Quinn.
