- Story Text: A whirlwind five day publicity blitz for Keira Knightly and Sienna Miller for their film 'The Edge of Love' ended with the film's London premiere on Thursday night (June 19, 2008).
The film follows the overlapping relationships between married night-club singer Vera Killick, played by Knightley, her old childhood sweetheart, poet Dylan Thomas, played by Matthew Rhys, and Thomas' wife, Sienna Miller.
The two women's relationship with each other intensifies as Vera's passion for Thomas is rekindled. When her Army Captain husband (played by Cillian Murphy) returns home from the war to find that his wife as squandered his army pay to support Dylan, scandal ensues.
The movie was written by Sharman McDonald, Knightley's mother.
During the publicity leading up to the film's premiere, much has been made in the press of Miller an Knightley's of screen friendship - the two having often been photographed laughing side by side at events.
Asked whether her friendship with her co-star informed the portrayal of the intense relationship between their characters, Miller said:
"I think inevitably it did but you know, you meet people and you click and we just always got along really well and are similar in a lot of ways. And it's really nice to have someone who does the same thing and to be able to do scenes with another woman, I mean it's really rare that you have two strong female characters and, yeah, it's been great," she told Reuters "We're very close."
