- Story Text: Ashton Kutcher got London's Leicester Square heaving with excited female fans when he arrived for the world premiere of the romantic comedy 'What happens in Vegas.' But it was a bittersweet premiere as his co-star Cameron Diaz was absent due to the sudden death of her father.
Ashton Kutcher on Tuesday (April 22) attended the world premiere of 'What happens in Vegas', a romantic comedy, starring Cameron Diaz.
Female fans were excited to see their star, although some wanted to see Cameron Diaz and were disappointed to learn that the actress wasn't coming:
"Cameron Diaz is coming tonight...Well, yeah he's also nice. He's handsome so it will be fun as well."
Diaz, who was originally scheduled to attend, had to cancel due to the sudden death of her father last week. Asked how she was, Kutcher said;
"I e-mailed her back and forth and I think she's doing pretty well but I can't imagine you'd be doing too well if you've just lost your Dad."
The movie is a romantic comedy, in which two strangers awake in Vegas to discover they've got married during a night of debauchery. All set to annul the marriage, one of them hits the jackpot after playing the other's quarter.
The newlyweds devise ever-escalating schemes to undermine each other and get their hands on the money, only to find themselves falling in love amid the mutual backstabbing.
The battle of the sexes has never had a pair of gladiators like Jack and Joy, not to mention their partners in crime--Jack's hair-trigger buddy "Hater" (ROB CORDDRY) and Joy's take-no-prisoners gal pal Tipper (LAKE BELL), who despise each other with almost as much venom as do Jack and Joy. Throw in Jack's demanding father, Jack, Sr. (TREAT WILLIAMS); Joy's hard-driving boss, Banger (DENNIS FARINA); her snooty ex-fiance, Mason (JASON SUDEIKIS); and a savvy shrink named Dr. Twitchell (QUEEN LATIFAH), and pretty soon there's a whole team of folks making Jack and Joy's frantic charade that much crazier.
Kutcher and Diaz had an on-set chemistry that wasn't lost on their co-stars and director Tom Vaughan:
"I told them both recently that if they don't work together again that that makes them medically retarded." said Rob Corddry.
"There's lots of things in the movie which are based on what they did in pre-production, they came to a few script meetings, there are certain things in the movie that they just came up with and they appeared inlike a script session and it was like that, we just need to film that , write that down and we're gonna go and do that. "added director Tom Vaughan.
Kutcher who is married to 45 year-old actress Demi Moore joked that just like in the film, there's plenty of stuff that could drive his wife crazy:
"I do a lot of things to drive Demi crazy, the one thing that makes her the most crazy is when I have to be right about something, that's like usually pretty good."
