- Story Text: Ashton Kutcher, Sofia Vergara, and the cast of "New Year's Eve" hit the red carpet Monday Night (December 5).
The romantic comedy from Garry Marshall, director of "Pretty Woman" and "Valentine's Day", chronicles the experiences of various people in New York on New Year's Eve. The vignettes deal with various situations on the much celebrated day like a couple preparing to give birth, two individuals getting stuck in an elevator, or a man trying to enjoy his last New Year's before dying.
"You know I try and live every day as an opportunity to have a resolution, you know, to be better. Or to be more in the moment. Or to love more. But you know sometimes the year gets away from you so it's nice to have a new year to have a second chance." said Hilary Swank who plays Claire Morgan, the producer of a telecast of the New Year's Eve celebration in New York City.
For Lea Michele who plays a backup singer performing on New Year's Eve the night is about being with family and having fun.
"It is definitely my favorite holiday. It's a night to just have fun and bring good energy into the next year."" said Michele.
Josh Duhamel plays, Sam, a guy looking to recapture a moment he had the previous year's New Year's Eve.
"New Year's Eve to me is, if the expectations are low enough you can usually have a pretty good time," said Duhamel.
German actor Til Schweiger said he enjoyed the opportunity to be part of such a star studded cast that features Oscar Winners Hilary Swank, Halle Berry, and Robert De Niro.
Schweiger told Reuters, "As a German, or a European you mostly get to play the bad guys. Just to play an regular guy in this ensemble, it was nice."
Zac Efron plays, Paul, a messenger who tries to help a woman fulfill her resolution list before midnight.
"New Year's Eve to me is really about being grateful for everything you've got. Really appreciating the present. Live for today. Plan for tomorrow. Party tonight," said Efron.
