- Story Text: Music superstars Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah shared the red carpet on Monday night, (January 9), for the premiere of "Joyful Noise." This is the first time the two singers teamed up for a big screen project.
The two women play opposing roles in "Joyful Noise," a film about an Atlanta church choir trying to win a national competition. For Parton, this was an opportunity to stretch her talents with one of the music industry's biggest names.
"She's great and I think our voices blended well. Our styles of music are different, we grew up in different places but that's what's great about being in this business. You get to do all kinds of things with all kinds of different people and it kind of stretches you a little bit too," said Parton. "So, I may have her on the grand old opera and she might have me on the road doing a rap song for all I know."
Both leading ladies also had some words of love for Hollywood's newest mother, Beyonce, who gave birth to a daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, on Saturday, January 7.
"I'm sorry you won't get so much sleep but, it's all good. It's worth it.," said Queen Latifah, while Parton offered the new mom a tip.
"Well, just keep that baby clean," said Parton.
The film also stars up and coming actress Keke Palmer and big-screen newcomer Jeremy Jordan. "Joyful Noise" hits U.S. theaters January 13. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
