- Story Text: U.S. Steven Soderbergh and cast on Wednesday (February 15) charmed Berlinale audiences with some light-hearted banter as they arrived in the German capital to present action flick, 'Haywire.' 'Haywire' features mixed martial arts star Gina Carano as an intelligence agent who is double-crossed and gets on a service's black list. After realising that she has been betrayed she sets off for brutal revenge and shows no mercy.
In real life Carano, appearing here in her first feature film, was far less ruthless and showed that even an angel of revenge can have a good relationship with her 'victims.'
"You know, everybody I acted with was completely beautiful for me and they were just so real and down to earth that it made it a real experience, and I couldn't be more grateful for the people that were surrounding me in this film and I will always be fans of theirs, not only just for their charisma but for the people that they are. So i had to get al deep on the red carpet, but I got get that out!" Carano said from the red carpet ahead of the premiere.
Soderbergh, who earlier blamed rumours of his quitting show business on buddy, U.S. actor Matt Damon - who purportedly spilled the beans after a nights drinking - said it was less about quitting and more about a little time-out.
"Well I am going to tale a break, yeah sure, it's been since 'Out of Sight' it's been sort of one thing after another, so yeah, just a little break," he said, looking relaxed ahead of his Berlinale premiere.
Actor Antonio Banderas who plays alongside rising star Michael Fassbender and Michael Douglas, said he was more than happy to a smaller role if it meant working alongside Soderbergh.
"I am fan, I am fan of mister Soderbergh, for a long time ago, the possibility of working together happened in the past, I was committed with other movies, but I am really happy I was in this movie, even with a little character, I don't care, just to see him working in first row, he was impressive, very interesting," the actor said. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
