- Story Text: Singer-turned-actor Justin Timberlake led the star-studded cast at the red carpet premiere of his latest film "In Time" on Thursday (October 20)in Los Angeles. Timberlake was met by screaming fans as he was driven to the red carpet in a vintage limousine to join leading ladies Olivia Wilde and Amanda Seyfried.
"In Time" explores a world where time is quite literally the currency, and people stop aging physically after turning 25. Timberlake's character, Will Salas, lives his life day-to-day, having to find a way to earn more time in order to survive, and the actor found himself drawn to Will's tenacity.
"When I read this movie and sort of saw it, how it would play out, I think most of all, I admired Will and so that was inspiring to play someone that you actually hope you would be like if your back was against the wall," said the actor.
As everyone in the film is aged 25, "Tron:Legacy" actress Olivia Wilde found herself playing the role of Timberlake's mother despite being younger than the actor in real life, a concept that she found interesting to explore.
"We're old friends," explained Wilde. "So it was really lovely to be able to work together on something unusual like this and to be able to explore family dynamics and how mothers and sons treat each other, it was interesting."
Rising star Amanda Seyfried plays Timberlake's love interest in the film, and Timberlake enjoyed pairing with the "Mamma Mia" actress to recreate a 'Bonnie and Clyde' style relationship.
"We've known each other since "Alpha Dog" and we're very, we're excited to work together in this way and sort of build this kind of Bonnie and Clyde thing," said Timberlake.
At the core of "In Time" is the message of appreciating time and not wasting it, which is what Timberlake hopes audiences come away with.
"This movie kind of presents the idea that you know, live every day as if it was your last, because we don't know how long we're going to be here. We are mortal," the actor said.
"In Time" stars Justin Timberlake, Olivia Wilde, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Alex Pettyfer, Vincent Kartheiser and Matt Bomer, and will be playing in U.S. theaters from Friday, October 28. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
