Summary:In July 1974 one third of Bangladesh was under flood water and fifteen million people were forced to evacuate their homes bringing a refugee problem of staggering proportions for a nation which had no resources and little organisation. This refugee camp near the capital, Dacca, was created from a mud flat by the refugees themselves, provided with the raw materials by international aid. NOTE: Date is approximate.
