Summary:These are among the last pictures taken of Emperor Haile Selassie. Shortly after this, on September 12, 1974, the 82-year old monarch was deposed in a sudden military coup. The first of the new rulers to greet foreign ambassadors was General Aman Mikael Andom, Chairman of the Armed Forces Committee. Later, Colonel Haile Mengistu emerged as the new supremo in Ethiopia.
