- Story Text: American movie star Tom Cruise came to Tokyo's bay by boat and joined drum performance to kick off his Japan promotional tour for his latest movie.
Cruise arrived in Tokyo on Tuesday (June 20) for the promotion of "Mission Impossible 3" along with director J. J. Abrams and co-starred actress Maggie Q and Keri Russell.
He smiled and gave a thumbs up when he said "Hello" in Japanese to fans who screamed and taking photographs of him.
He eventually spent two hours talking to more than a thousand fans waiting on the red carpet.
In a press conference before the premier, he said that he want to shoot action sequences for a future movie in Tokyo.
"People might not be very happy with the traffic. But please be patient and let us have it for a week. We would have a sequence that will be forever remembered." Cruise told at a press conference on tuesday.
In fact, they originally planned to be film some scenes for the film in Japan. "We couldn't find exact building we needed to make a sequence works. So we had started looking elsewhere, ultimately turn out to be Shanghai. " Director J. J. Abrams told at a press conference.
After the press conference, Tom Cruise met with Japanese Transport minister Kazuo Kitagawa to express his appreciation for permitting to use Tokyo's Odaiba bay for premier event. Kitagawa presented Cruise with a citation for promoting Japan through his starred and produced film "The Last Samurai" and a traditional "happi" coat.
Cruise has also chartered an high speed bullet train to take 150 fans on a trip from Tokyo to Osaka on wednesday as part of the promotional campaign for the movie.
