Summary:President Giscard d'Estaing gave a boost to the Anglo-French Concorde when he used the plane to take him on a goodwill visit to Zaire on August 7 1975. It was the first- ever visit by a French President to the former Belgian colony and the government of President Mobutu and the people of Kinshasa gave him a rousing welcome.
