Summary:September 25 1975 - the 150th birthday of the railway engine. Fifty years earlier these engines were paraded at Darlington in North East England, to celebrate the centenary of rail travel. Many of those on display were nearly a hundred years old. Behind the flag-carrying horse rider, a replica of the engine which made the first historic journey from Stockton to Darlington at a top speed of 15 miles an hour.
