Summary:In October soldiers, split by political rivalries, opened fire on each other in Oporto after a night of rioting and heavy casualties. Originally the armed forces were, publicly at least, united behind the revolution, but the now obvious internal splits have so complicated the political situation in Portugal that no government in power could risk relying on them to restore order. To help restore both peace, commando recruitment was accelerated. NOTE: Date is approximate. This clip may contain footage from multiple events; exact date or dates may be unknown.
