Title:Spanish Sahara: Spanish Troops Watch As Peace Marchers Cross Border
Date:1st October 1975
Summary:Hoping to persuade the Moroccans to abandon their 'Peace' march, Spain made ready a deadly array of artillery, armour, and crack Foreign Legionnaires at a key point on the Spanish Sahara's desert border. The idea of the march had come from King Hassan who resisted pressure from the UN to call it off. The long march - regarded by many of its participants as a pilgrimage - was very well organised, and remained peaceful. NOTE: Date is approximate.
