Summary:On October 7 1975, the former President of Nigeria, General Yakubu Gowon, enrolled at Warwick University in England as a mature student. He had been deposed as President in a bloodless coup in July, but he still pledged his loyalty to his country. General Gowon said that he was taking a course in politics and international studies so that he might broaden his vision and be of service to his country in the future.
