- Story Text: The Estonian capital Tallinn turned into a horror movie set when hundreds of zombies with blood-stained faces and horrible wounds walked through its streets. Screaming and groaning, the crowd occupied the city's central Freedom square despite fierce resistance from the special forces sent to fight the invaders.
But tourists and passers-by were not scared a bit. The invasion wasn't real - it was the official third Zombie Walk. Traditionally organised during the Halloween festival this year it was held earlier to coincide with the release of the second season of the TV series "The Walking Dead."
Estonian zombie-fans portrayed various characters from the film.
"We were going to a wedding but the end of the world came and we did not manage to get married, we were eaten and killed", said a zombie-bride Tatyana Sagitova.
Marina Karaseva took part in the zombie walk with her son who didn't seem to be scared of the bloody wounds he and his mom had on their faces.
"It is a good reason to relax, to dress up in a costume, to spend time with family. It's fun and interesting, we like it a lot," said Marina before heading off onto the streets.
The participants of the Walk had a special code of behaviour - at all times during the walk everybody had to keep to the zombie character. Communication with other zombies and people on streets was limited - the only word zombis were allowed to say was "Braaaainsss".
The walk ended faster than expected because the zombies had to face an unexpected and powerful enemy.
"At the beginning zombies were very slow. But after the release of the film "28 days later", they became faster. And we were inspired by this film. But those zombies were not as fast as the ones we have today. Today maybe because it is very cold, the zombies were very fast," said the walk's organiser Alex Rostov. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
