- Story Text: Estonian singer Tanja has been chosen to represent the small Baltic country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen in May. She intends to dazzle the judges with her catchy Euroclub song and dance number 'Amazing'.
The singer explains that the 'Amazing' of her song does not refer to a specific person but is more abstract.
"The song ... is about an amazing lie - a feeling or a thing or a person or situation that is so good and so important to you that you don't want to get out of it. It pulls you in. No matter how you try to escape, you just don't want to do it, because it is just so good," Estonian singer Tanja tells Reuters.
Tanja Mihhailova was born in 1983 in Kaliningrad, but moved to Estonia when she was only two months old. From a very early age on she started singing and dancing in order to become an artist one day.
In Estonia, Tanja gained popularity due to her participation in several TV shows and contests, but musicals are her passion. She took also part in several theatre performances.
With her Eurovision song 'Amazing' she is able to showcase both: her voice and her dancing.
"We don't just act, we are trying to tell a story through both dance and song," she tells Reuters. "Dancing is a very important part of my life and I have done the contemporary style for a very long time and I hadn't had the chance to use it in such a big project before. Now the opportunity came and I am really glad that I can dance it, because I miss dancing a lot."
Although Tanja has participated previously in several song contests, Eurovision will be by far the biggest one. She says it is a dream come true, but the singer is evasive about her prospects in Eurovision song contest.
"I don't have the skill to predict the future," Tanja says. "It depends on how we perform on that day and how it looks and how everything goes. Our performance is pretty hard and I think everything depends on how we are on stage at that exact moment and how we cope. I really hope that everything comes out as planned and we'll see, how people like it."
The first time Tanja will perform for Estonia will be at the Eurovision semi-finals, which will take place on May 6th. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
