- Story Text: Sudan eliminated kenya from the African Nations Soccer Cup on Sunday (20 April) with a 2-0 victory.
It was their second match. In the first round, played in Khartoum the weak before, the Sudanese team won 1-0. They thus won the qualifying round by 3-0.
The first goal came on the 43rd minute when Santo took a free kick which was headed into the goal by striker Ali Gagarin. Gagarin scored Sudan's second goal in third minute of injury time when he latched onto a through ball, rounded a Kenyan defender and shot low past goalkeeper James Sianga.
Kenya was dominant in the first half and were unlucky not to score. Captain Jonathan Niva twice shot the ball into the side netting.
The second half was more even. And, in the 82nd minute, Kenya might have scored but for a fine save by Sudanese goalkeeper Zagbair who dived full length to save for Robin Osoro.
Sudan now play Tunisia in the second round of the competition.
