- Story Text: Mr Charles Njonjo, the Attorney General of Kenya, was married in Nairobi on Saturday (18 November) to Miss Margaret Bryson, from the United Kingdom. President Kenyatta was among the guests at the wedding at All Saints Cathedral.
Mr Njonjo, son of ex-Senior chief Josiah Njonjo of Kiambu, was born in 1920 and educated at the Alliance High School, Kikuyu, and King's College, Budo, Uganda. He obtained an arts degree at South Africa's Fort Hare University.
After studying law and being called to the bar in the United Kingdom, he worked there for several years before returning to Kenya, where he continued his legal career in Government service. He was appointed Deputy Public Prosecutor in 1962, and promoted to his present post in June, 1963.
